I would like to acknowledge that we are gathered on the traditional lands of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, and Nakota Sioux peoples, as well as the homeland of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. This area, now called Red Deer, has long been a place of gathering, trade, and stewardship for many Indigenous nations, who cared for the land, waters, and all living beings for generations.

We recognize the deep and ongoing connection that Indigenous peoples have to this land, and we honour their resilience, knowledge, and contributions—past, present, and future. As we live, work, and build community here, may we do so in the spirit of respect, truth, and reconciliation.
